The weather here is ridiculously hot and humid. My face always remains wet with sweat. I’m waiting for the rain, despite not liking how this broken city simply goes dead in monsoon. Rains mean I can’t travel anywhere (poor infra) . I can’t even walk around (no footpaths). But for the

We're beyond the first rain!

It rained the whole day today. Went to office with my jeans folded at edges and wearing rubber clogs instead of my regular shoes. Not that I'm a fan of monsoon, but I dislike heat even more. My room gets unbearably hot during afternoon, that paralyses me into being incapable of any productive task. Hopefully, rains will improve the ambient weather. I can be marginally more productive.

Travelling in this season is tough. This city is accustomed to raincoats - you'll find every local person used to riding bikes in raincoats. I've never done that. I find it more convenient to stay at my room, minding my own business in this season. Not that I go out anyways irrespective of the weather.

This rain might not last long because, El Nino I suppose? I'm not sure. But I do hope this rain to not be ruthless and paralyse this city. Thankfully for now I am privileged enough to live right beside my workplace, but I have an eviction notice so the status quo might not be maintained for long. I'll also have to strategically manage my market timings so as to buy necessities without having to commute in the rain for long. I can't use my bicycle in this season and walking on foot is a big hassle when the footpaths are covered with sludgy dry leaf mixture.

There's also an ongoing water shortage in this city - despite being situated beside the sea. I'm again, privileged enough to not be affected. But it does make me think, how bad can we fumble to have a water shortage? What about the desalination plants we keep chirping about?

Either way, rains are finally here. I was, despite all, waiting for this.
