Collect beautiful things
It has been some time since I've been awestruck. A tendency has developed to be critical, find the bottom line and plan for the worst. Its justified. At least for the position I currently am in.
But its not justified to lose human essence.
Just before the beginning of this year, I was pondering over how the internet has lost its organic touch and turned into a crib of made-up personalities which don't exist. I'm sure I'm not the only one who noticed this. Online communities are seeing widespread withdrawal from tech and slipping back into analog, because the internet simply isn't what we thought it'd be.
Partly because of the AI enshittification of our lives and partly due to self inflicted violations, I have come to add another point to my (yet unpublished) matter - we have voluntarily stopped appreciating beauty. Despite it being easy to archive content now, we're not archiving what matters to us.
Start collecting your favorite quotes. Write down the stanzas which made you feel. Take notes of dialogues form movies, dramas, books which leave an impression. Write down your favorite lyrics. Save your favorite flowers. Click pictures of things you find beautiful. Come home and write about the art exhibition you attended. Write about the incidents which you enjoyed. Write about the food you liked on your vacation or the neighborhood cafe where you hung out. Record it; record everything you find beautiful. Form those words out of your brain - force it to. Learn to appreciate beauty and how to appreciate beauty.
Not because you might forget it, but because you deserve to re-live beautiful moments.
